Main Character
I am reading the book Sister Wife By Shelly Hrdlitschka
The main character in my book, is Celeste. (Thinking to herself.) "I am consumed with impure thoughts. My head is swirling with stories that would give the Prophet heart failure if he knew of them. I fear that I am destined for eternal damnation." (Shelly Hrdlitschka, Sister Wife page 1.)
What I have learned about this character, or the protagonist, is that she has impure thoughts about something that is so terrible, that the Prophet (the person that decides who the young girls will marry,) will not be impressed by the thoughts that she has if he finds out. Also, I have learned that she has gotten these impure thoughts about someone that she shouldn't even be thinking about. I learned this because I know what the stories about, and for a young girl like Celeste, to be saying and knowing that she is thinking impure thoughts, is showing that she's thinking about someone, or something she shouldn't even know.
As the plot progresses, I think that Celeste will continue to have these impure thoughts, and depending on what some of them are, maybe even act on them. If she does act on them, it could cause her to get married even sooner than she already is, or she could get thrown out of Unity/ The Movement.
I chose this video, because this is the life that Celeste is living, and second thinking. It's the way she's been raised, to know, and as she gets closer and closer to the age that she has to marry, she's starting to second guess her life style. She wants to know if it's worth it.

ReplyDeleteThis was a good choice to think of the Tv show Sister Wifes and to use it for this blog post. Did you enjoy the topic that is disused in this book? It was a very long post for a 150 word post. This blog post was well written and thorough. Good Job.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a good book to read! I agree with Olivia, it was a good choice to think of the tv show! This blog post was done really well!
